Lumigon’s T2 smartphone aiming to replace your TV’s remote

On the surface, this black slab seems like any other basic uninspired Android phone, but there’s a secret packing a “neat” punch – it can be used as your TV’s controller. Lumigon, probably betting on the fact you lose your remote 50 times more than your precious cell phone, cobbled together this handset.  With Android 4.0, a Qualcomm Snapdragon, this phones top ridge can copy commands from your remote control and emulate them on screen using on-screen buttons or gestures.  This reminds me of my first smartphone, the Palm Centro, which had an app with similar functionality.

Above the 3.8 inch screen is a 2 actioned “Activity button”, reportedly able to be programmed to preform any function the phone has, liek speed dial, flashlight, or even turning your TV to a different channel.  Let’s just hope this isn’t lost in the cushions of your couch as fast as your VCR’s remote.
